Scripture: Romans 2: 21-22, 25
21 Well then, if you teach others, why don’t you teach yourself? You tell others not to steal, but do you steal? 22 You say it is wrong to commit adultery, but do you commit adultery? You condemn idolatry, but do you use items stolen from pagan temples?[b] 25 The Jewish ceremony of circumcision has value only if you obey God’s law. But if you don’t obey God’s law, you are no better off than an uncircumcised Gentile.
Scripture Commentary:
Sometimes we question people about what they say and do. We become judge and jury based on our experiences. We think we can teach or correct a mistake being made based on our past experience. Don’t say something is wrong or that you would do things differently. We are all human.
Don’t Teach What You Don’t Live.
Don’t criticize someone you don’t know or who is just beginning to learn about God. Help that person. Don’t be judgmental. Paul tells us that we are responsible for teaching ourselves the lifestyle God has for us, and then live by it. God’s law is more than legalistic; it’s the blueprint to live according to His will. It tells us that we cannot have a proper relationship with God until we accept and live a Christian lifestyle. This is how we please God.
Look inward. Remove any ungodly thing that you are doing or holding onto. Ask for forgiveness and repent. Live the life God has for you.
