Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4: 16, 18
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Scripture Commentary:
Here today, gone tomorrow. You’ve probably heard this saying. Have you considered its meaning? Our body will one day decay, rot and decompose. You will one day be a memory for maybe one, two, or three generations. Your future family may look at a few pictures of you and ask who this person is. You have probably already done this if you’ve run across some old family photos. This is a fact and that is a part of our present life here and now.
Jesus promises us that this is not our permanent home.
This is only a stopping station. The permanent home is not made with hands. It is a place with no sickness, death or sorrow. It is a place of love.
Our ultimate hope when we are experiencing illness and persecution is the realization that this is not the end. Knowing we will live forever in God’s kingdom and eternal house in heaven is our hope.
You may ask how do you get there. The answer is to accept Jesus Chris as your Lord and Savior, and repent.
