Scripture: Matthew 14: 28-29
28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” 29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said.
Scripture Commentary:
Peter calls Jesus saying, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you.” How can anyone walk on water? Peter and the disciples had just witnessed Jesus feed 5,000 plus people. This is a miracle for that’s impossible to do with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. So Peter asks Jesus to call to him.
Do you believe that Jesus will answer when you call to Him?
Do you believe He can do for you what you can’t do for yourself? Peter wasn’t testing Jesus. He was testing himself. And when you go to Jesus, you test yourself. Do you truly believe in God and that He can do for you?
Peter is the only disciple who asks Jesus for permission to come to Him. He’s the only one who had the faith. Where is your faith? Peter started to sink when he took his eyes off Jesus. When you take your life into your own hands and out of Jesus’s hands, you will sink also.
Do not focus on the difficult circumstances of the world. Go to Jesus for his power and stop trying to deal with your inadequacies.
